Lockton partners with Networks to reduce clients’ patent infringement risk

Lockton’s Intellectual Property team has partnered with the LOT Network and the Open Invention Network (“the Networks”) to secure membership for clients that will help reduce their patent infringement risk.

Members of the LOT Network (opens a new window) are protected from patent infringement claims made by Patent Assertion Entities (PAEs) who have acquired patents from members. Benefits include protecting balance sheets through immunisation against claims made by PAEs who have obtained patents from the membership.

The Open Invention Network (opens a new window) is the only institution focused on mitigating patent risk in Open Source Software (OSS). Membership benefits include providing peace of mind through having access to a cross license of core Linux and OSS technology patents.

Membership of both Networks demonstrates to boards and investors added IP risk management and mitigation. It can also lead to potential premium reduction for IP insurance policies purchased through Lockton.
